tina rTina - Webmistress

With a background in Graphic Design and Visual Art plus years of experience, Tina has developed a sound appreciation and knowledge of the field. In the process of managing a professional career in graphic and website design she consistently thinks about the kind of image she wants to portray; of herself as well as her work. "Digital technologies have changed the way we learn, play, socialize, and participate in life.

Tina states, "I was thrilled when invited to join the Board of Women in the Spirit. I just want to share what I have been blessed with." Tina is from Oregon, lives in Connecticut, has traveled extensively, lived in many places and has been blessed with recovery since July 1995. She has been on many website planning committees, worked with many non-profits and community engagement initiatives and is currently a college professor in CT.

I am originally from the Metro-west region of Massachusetts but have called the Mt Washington Valley of N.H. home since 1992. Although I came into the halls in 2004 my sober date is August 2006, sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.

Starting early in service work, I served as co-chair for the 2007 Northeast Women to Women conference at Bretton Woods. This was the impetus for a group of us to begin a new retreat for women in recovery to be held in a place where we could be close to nature, would focus on the spiritual journey we all walk in our recovery. It was also important for this to be more affordable for the women especially newcomers.

Serving on the WitS board to plan these retreats is service work,  and for me is second only to my service work for my church.  I believe that through both the good news of the Bible and the hope and guidance of the Big Book we spread God’s Love and Hope to women no matter where they are on life’s journey. It is through God’s Amazing Grace that we are able to recover and grow spiritually.

I have been blessed to have had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout the United States and Canada and I continue daily to Worship the Lord for the splendor of His creation.

“I lift up my eyes to the mountains — where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” (Psalm 121:1-2)

“Nature reveals to us God’s beauty, glory, power, wisdom, presence, creativity, and, most of all, his loving care. This is why we’re drawn to spend time in the beauty of nature and to enjoy animals.” (Soul Shepharding.com)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding" Proverbs 3:5

Blessed to have been introduced to AA at 20 years old in May 1985, I have been shown a way of life that has been amazing. Initially feeling my life was over I was shown that God is real and often works through those around me. Sharing a ski house with members of my home group I fell in love with the mountains of New Hampshire and moved there in 1988. Continuing my journey in AA, I learned one day at a time how to raise two children and how finish college which led me to a career in nursing. Hiking and skiing bring me outside and filled my soul with peace. Over the years I have been a group secretary, treasurer, GSR, and active group member. I am a member of the Over Easy Group in Plymouth, NH and Jumpstart Group in Marblehead, MA. Life on life’s terms enhancing my spiritual condition had brought me to a place of wanting to share with others. I prayed for the right path and was introduced to the founding board members of WitS. What a perfect fit for my life!! The women continually amaze me with their power of example and ability to trust and rely on GOD.
